DJI RS 3 Pro Unboxing: Made for Medium-to-Large Crews

DJI RS 3 Pro is available in both standalone and combo versions.

The standalone version is more than enough to meet basic shooting needs, while the combo includes additional accessories like the Focus Motor (2022) and Ronin Image Transmitter for more professional creation.

The DJI RS 3 Pro standalone version can meet the basic needs of commercial filming.

Extended arms do not result in an increased gimbal weight. The optimized structural design of RS 3 Pro plus a carbon fiber design ensure that its weight remains the same as RS 2 at just 1.5 kg/3.3 lbs, while its load capacity is a robust 4.5 kg/10 lbs, delivering powerful support in a lightweight body. The axis arms are constructed from high-stiffness layered sheets of uncut carbon fiber that have undergone tens of thousands of vehicle mount tests in the lab, allowing them to cope with incredibly demanding shooting environments.

With the innovative automated axis locks, when the gimbal is powered off, simply press and hold the power button, and the three axes unlock and expand automatically, allowing you to start shooting within seconds without the need for manual operation. During use, to lock the gimbal temporarily, press the power button once, and the axes automatically lock and enter sleep mode. Press the button once again to wake the gimbal and resume active status. This makes scene transitions and storage significantly more efficient.

Controlling camera shutter using a shutter cable can be a hassle. The cable can easily become lost and takes up a USB port on the camera when in use. Equipped with Dual-Mode Bluetooth technology, RS 3 Pro is able to achieve efficient and reliable wireless shutter control. ^[1] A previously paired camera will even automatically reconnect, saving you time with every ensuing use.

A large built-in 1.8-inch OLED full-color touchscreen comes with a redesigned user interface. Every setting is more intuitive and precise.

The next-generation DJI RS Focus Motor (2022) provides torque three times stronger (up to 1 N·m) and reduces audible noise by 50%. This delivers a smoother focusing experience and reduces the effects on audio recording. It also adopts a quick-release structure, allowing it to be assembled easily without any tools for faster use.

The DJI LiDAR Range Finder (RS) uses Ronin 4D’s acclaimed LiDAR focusing technology. Compared with conventional focusing technology, the LiDAR focusing system does not need to rely on the surface texture of the subject. This is especially useful in low-light environments or complicated scenarios with multiple subjects and results in exceptionally stable focus.

The new LiDAR Range Finder (RS) can project 43,200 ranging points within a 14-meter distance. ^[2] It also features a built-in camera with an equivalent focal length of 30 mm and a wide FOV of 70°, catering to the focusing needs of most scenarios.

It supports both Wide Mode and Spot Mode. In Wide Mode, the range finder automatically detects the subject and follows focus. In Spot Mode, users can manually frame or tap the subject to focus.

The next-generation ActiveTrack Pro can directly read images from the camera built into the LiDAR Range Finder, and can identify up to five human subjects at once by face, head, and body, ^[3] and follow one of them, even when the subjects are moving fast or at a distance.

DJI Transmission evolves from the established DJI aerial video transmission technology, delivering an integrated solution that combines a video receiver, monitor, controller, and recorder. DJI Transmission incorporates O3 Pro video transmission technology, which offers an incredible 6km/20,000ft ^[4]  on-ground transmission distance. It also supports transmission at 1080p/60fps with a max bitrate of 50Mbps as well as live audio monitoring at 16-bit 48 kHz, providing crews on large sets with an excellent remote visual and audio monitoring experience.

DJI Transmission also supports automatic frequency hopping between 2.4 GHz, 5.8 GHz, and DFS bands, providing crews with an impressively stable and interference-free remote monitoring experience.

RS 3 Pro can pair with the all-new DJI Transmission to offer a customized shooting solution. The DJI Video Transmitter can be powered directly by RS 3 Pro and mounts conveniently on the bottom via the cold shoe without the need for an additional battery, reducing the burden for handheld setup.

The DJI High-Bright Remote Monitor supports live feeds with audio and one transmitter with multiple receivers.
